Last year I held four monthly team fundraising sessions leading up to our walk The sessions were open to all walkers and team captains. A local Panera allowed me to use one of their private sections of the restaurant, which was very helpful for a more private setting and because it also had wireless internet connection. I developed colorful sheets detailing all kinds of fundraising event ideas & tips, including the Step Out "Fundraising Ideas From A-Z", and provided banners and other print material for walkers to take back home with them.
I also invited attendees to bring their laptops so that I could help them sign up for the walk, design team profile pages, and download solicitation samples for their use.
I advertised the sessions at the team kick-off event in the Spring, as well as email and Facebook notifications. Each session was very well attended!
Perhaps this type of individualized service would be good for each city walks?
I just signed up for my first fundraising walk, the Step Out event in Orlando. I've never done fundraising before and am working my way through the ADA info and other media. I just used the facebook feature on the ADA website and posted my own message. It appears on my timeline but not on my home page, so I don't know if anyone is seeing it. Can anyone help?
