Hello everyone
I came here to just see how everyone is doing with diabetes? Would also like to know some of your stories. And I would like to share mine also . So here it goes lol . I just turned 17 and was going through some break up problems with my ex bf. I actually was joking about having diabetes with my family because deep down I actually thought I was pregnant. Because I didn't use protection and I was coming off that depo shot. So I was scared that might be it. When I went to go for a check up to see what was wrong with me because like weeks before I noticed how I was peeing every thirty minutes and how I was too lazy to get up and do anything . But when I went to the checkup she asked me to give her a urine sample. I did. After 15 minutes or so, the doctor came in and was like Mercedes I have some bad news . We looked at your pee and u have sugar in it. Not to get you scared but you might have diabetes. Right then I started crying, because I did not know anything about this disease. I thought it was something like cancer. But I was wrong lol. So they sent me to the hospital where they found out that my blood sugar was 375, which is extremely high if u didn't know.. They rushed me to a room with my mom. Stuck a pump through my arm so they could test for which kind of diabetes I had, and also other kind of diseases. After all that, they had a specialist come in and explain that it was not my fault that I got this. There was nothing I did that could of prevented it. But besides all that I had the best time of my life in the hospital. I loved having people there 24 hours to support me. The only thing I hated was getting woken up at 2 am to get my bloodsugar taken and to get a shot. After all that, learning about it, I embrace that I have diabetes. It gets annoying having to check my blood sugar before I eat and take a shot after. But im uste to it. I don't feel as if it im weird just because I have it. Because I am far from it lol. im just a normal teen going to highschool making friends
and learning. It doesn't bother me when I have to tell people I have diabetes because I love to see their reaction when they hear it lol .
