My name is Kayla, i have had diabeties for 19 years and i STILL CAN NOT GET THIS. Its really fustrating because i want to be healthy, i want to not feel sick and tired, i just want to have a normal life with out feeling sick or thinking i am going to die soon. My A1c is around a 10,1 trust me its been higher. I just dont know what to do, i feel like there is so much to do when it comes to taking care of myself, i dont even know were to start. I dont test i dont count what i eat, i dont even give myself insulin for the stuff i eat.  I am on a insulin pump, and this is the only reason why i am still here today is because i live off my basil. No one i know has this condition and i feel like no one understands me because if they did i wouldnt be stuck in my situation. Someone please help me...

It's the same thing with me I'm on an insulin pump and I usually forget to bolus. I feel like why does it have to be me that got stuck with this. Also I'm one of the 2/3 diabetics to get addisons disease. It's where your adrenal glands shutdown. I have to take pills everymorning and at night just for that and for my diabetes it's all with the bolusing and testing.

Hi Kayla!

Have you checked local hospitals and medical centers for support groups?  Don't think that a support group is just "therapy".  You get good, working knowledge of what it all is by talking with others who have to do it too.  You can learn what they did that worked or didn't work; how they dealt with different meds and doctors; and even how to approach others if you decide to bring someone in on it.  Diabetes won't scare away anyone who's worth your time!  Just learn some techniques to help others understand it.  It's strange, but by trying to explain it to others, you end up understanding more and more.  You'll get there.

I have a question for you. Do you talk to you endecrin doctors and actually LISTEN o them cuase iveonly had diabetes for 1 year and i know its tough you are not alone . of all the diagnosesses for diabetes 1/4 ARE TYPE 1 THIS IS OUT OF THE ENTIRE WORLD. I dont know if you are a chridtian or an athiest but i hav a verse for you

Hi Kayla, im very much in the same boat. I was doagnosed at age 18 with Type 1 during senior year of highschool. Now on college i have kind of lost focus of my diabetes. Last A1c was also in the 10.1 range. I am on a pump. It is very common for me as well yo forget to bolud for meals and have high numbers consistantly and only get by on basal. I think ot would be of help to beable to talk to people my age struggling with diabetes. Hope you are still doing okay. Hope to here from you.
