Since sodium is the new fat for health-conscious individuals, I would sure like to see more low-sodium recipes, DH has not only diabetes but heart failure (not so unusual, unfortuneately). So, I moniter sodium like a mother bear looking after her cubs. We are trying to keep to 1500 mg a day and everyone is being cautioned to cut back. Thanks for listening, and certainly thanks for this website.

am Type 2 - and as far as sodium goes - i try to never buy anything that has more than 100 mg of sodium in it. Check the labels on everything. EVERYTHING has sodium (just about). I make/cook my own foods - my breads: egg subs, soy milk/sea salt - and when it calls for 1.5 tsp of salt i only use .5 - not necessary to load it up with more. My brotherinlaw has to curb his salt intake - so sis bought all new receipe books to radically cut salt from the foods she cooks - buys - prepares for him. WORKING well. I bought the same books - and they are very good - i try hard not to buy anything loaded with salt and sugar. JUST PAY ATTENTION to the labels - and what it is your buying/making - HARD especially if you were brought up to have desert every nite after dinner -some sweet. But never too late to change. MAKE that difference so you can live long healthy life.
