Spell checker tables

Status: New Idea

If they could develop some tables of common terms used such as carbs, but also tables of medication names and medical terms used on the boards like Januvia and neuropathy for instance that would be helpful.  Then the spell program could read the tables first and also when new drugs come out their spelling could be added,

Lizzy, how is this different from the Learn feature that's already there...if it would seem to work, and remember what it learned?

To answer Molly's question a lot of people have no idea how to spell medical terms or medication names so they can't "teach" the checker.  If it read a table for reference it could present options closer to the correct spelling.

I'm getting tried of the spell check not learning. Example not remembering the word carbs and always suggesting crabs instead.

I'll second James's statement!

Although crabs are pretty low-carb.  I've had to "teach" it 3 times today already.

Well I had it but some how it forgot. Yesterday it even gave me some suggestions for my user name!

I just replied to another post. When I ran the spell check it could not find a word and the word it suggested was what I typed in the first place, I  love it. :smileyfrustrated:

I'm thinking that the vendor might need to allow each organization that used the software to develop their own list of jargon specific to that organization, like carbs, medication names, and terms like hypoglycemia are specific to a forum about diabetes.  Then that list could apply to all posts on our site, but not be added to the main dictionary.

To Molly,

Well they need to do SOMETHING!  This spell checker is the pits, it never learns anything for long.  It's still telling me my name is "Tizzy" after all these months, and it never, ever learns carbs.  Grrrrrrrr!

I wish there was a way to use my web browser's spell check. That way when I click Add to Dictionary it would stay added!
