Signing In

Hello!

Just a quick question....

Every time I get on the message boards, I have to sign in.

Why then does it ask if I want to save my name and password,

because I always check that I do, but I still have to sign in each time.

Thanks for any reply!

Re: Signing In

Annie,

That is because there is an automatic timeout period.

Re: Signing In

G'day Annie

I get a different reaction on my PC and notebook. On the PC I have to sign in after even a short absence. It does remember my user name and password, but I think that is as a result of my Firefox settings, not the forum software.

On my netbook I am always signed in and very rarely get signed out regardless of how long I'm gone. I use Firefox there too; I can't find any difference in my settings.

It can be a darn nuisance, especially when I start up in the morning and open about twenty new tabs - then find I have to sign in before I reload all of them.

Re: Signing In

Thanks, Trisha.

Alan, I can't figure that out either. It's one of those Gremlin mysteries.

Thanks, James.

That has become increasingly annoying lately. It seems that I have to sign in multiple times daily. Possibly the timeout period has changed. It now happens on my netbook as well. If I am inactive for even a few minutes I need to sign in again.

I fire up the computer in the morning, read and answer the overnight posts, then head off to do other things. I come back as new posts appear over the next few hours - and nearly every time I have to sign in again just to read it, because the standard font is so tiny.

Matt, could we PLEASE change the timeout to 24 hours so that we only need to sign in once a day. Could we also review the standard font size please.

Re: Signing In

The idea of changing the automatic time out has already been suggested to Matt a little less then 2 months ago in the online community feedback board. Below is the link. As far as I can remember Matt as not said anything about it.

Re: Signing In

I was having the same issue but haven't for the last few weeks.

It used to have to sign in again if I was away for even a half hour...

But I realized that when I was signing in, I was not checking the box that says "Remember Me" if I remember that correctly...

And I might not, because I have pretty much been signed in continuously for a few weeks now...

Re: Signing In

The "remember me" box is permanently ticked on both computers, but I always check it just in case.

I have to re-sign in if I have no activity for 15-20 minutes.

As I just did to make this post.
