Testing supplies

I thought I would pass along some information about some testing supplies.  As we all know, those can get expensive when you do not have insurance.  For those that qualify (i.e. no insurance and low income) you can contact RX OUTREACH.  They will supply you with a free Prodigy Preferred meter (one per year).  They also will allow you to buy 100 strips for $30 to go with that meter.

I also found a site that sells strips at an even lower price.  It is called Trusted Medical Supply.  They have new strips for several meters with low prices, such as the same Prodigy strips are $12.99 regularly, on sale now for $11.04, for 50 strips, plus free shipping on all orders.  They also offer some that are getting closer to their expiration dates at an even lower price.

I am not connected with either of these companies in any way, just thought it may help someone like me that is looking to save money any way they can on supplies.  The links above will open in new windows so you won't lose your place here if you want to check them out.  I know that RX Outreach does not accept insurance, as a matter of fact, if you have insurance you cannot get things from them.  I don't know if Trusted Medical Supplies will accept insurance or not.

Happy testing!

Re: Testing supplies

Hornet62, you might want to copy this and post it in the type 2 forum. More people will see it there.

Re: Testing supplies

Do I need the copy of the prescription to get the strips and lancets online?

So far the stripes are costing me about 45.00 for 100

The lancets are about 15.00 to 20.00/100

Re: Testing supplies

You can always buy as many strips and lancets as you want without a prescription, on line or over the counter.

The catch is, that if you want to have them covered by your health insurance, you need a prescription, and you may need to jump through some hoops.  For example, your insurance may only cover certain brands, because they have some kind of agreement with the manufacturer to reduce their cost. They may only allow a certain number of strips per month, although in some circumstances, a letter of medical necessity from you doctor will allow you to get more.

Prefer getting them online. Much cheaper that the 50.00 for the strips that i am getting with my discount plan at the pharmacy
