Started Lantus

I started Lantus SoloSTAR on Thursday night.  I noticed immediately after the injections I have light nausea and a low grade headache.  Within 15 mins these start to fade and a totally gone in an hour.  Did anyone else experience this?  If so how long until this disappears?

Lantus is a long-acting insulin, but it generally takes it at least an hour until enough of it has spread out of fat layer under the skin and into your blood to begin to go to work.  I doubt that is is likely to be the source of your symptoms.

Do you suppose that your symptoms could have come from the stress and relief from having to give yourself an injection and managing to do that?  It can be pretty challenging at first.

I agree with Molly.  Maybe since shooting up is new to you, you were a little stressed out about it.

In a week or so you'll be an old pro at it, not to worry. :smileywink:

Re: Started Lantus

It's been 3 nights in a row, that makes me think it is a pattern.  I rarely get headaches minor or otherwise.  Needles are not new.  I used to give myself injections with a much larger needle of serum, until the doctors office decided that was in house only (money maker for them).  The insulin is a new experience.  The first night I did chalk it up to nerves.  The send night it was hmmmmmm.  The third night it was huh, I wonder.  If I hit 7 night with the same symptoms, I will think this is definitely the trigger.
