Wish there was one in my area. I know a few people that could use the free meds.

This is a nice program, and hopefully works out well for them. I did notice they will only fill 30 days worth at a time, I guess I don't blame them, they want you to come into the store often, chances are you'll buy something while you are picking up the free Metformin. I know I would. Suggestion: if anybody is taking advantage of this, ask at customer service to see the manager on duty, tell him you appreciate this program. It would be nice to have a shopping cart with some stuff in it at the time.

True they only fill 30 days at a time. My dr wrote 90 days worth with 1 refill, they just dole it out 30 days at a time, I'm not complaining since it is free LOL.

However...my dosage is 2000mg daily they only would fill 1000mg free, the balance I would have to pay 5 or 10 dollars total. It turns out, that its the same cost as my plans Coplay @ 90 days supply. So I stayed with my plan. This is really a super deal for someone without coverage! I am from NY suburbia so I believe it is all shoprites that have pharmacies.

Meijer stores in the midwest also have free Metformin. You get a full bottle of 100 pills at a time.

Depends on how it is dispensed... 500mg tabs they will only dispense 60 1000 mg tabs they will still dispense 60.

It's good PR, but virtually all national & chain pharmacies have the generic drug programs with 30 day scrips for $4 and 90 days for $10.

True, but at Walgreens, you have to join some kind of discount drug club that Walgreens runs, and our beloved Federal government (the ones that are supposed to be "for the people", right?) have passed a law that Walgreens cannot let people on Medicare join the club. So if I get my generic prescriptions filled at Walgreens, it has to be submitted to my part D prescription drug plan for them to pay on it, and my copay is more than the $4 that would be the total cost if I could join the plan. A lot of diabetics are on Medicare, as far as I know this law excludes them from the Walgreens program whether they can afford pard D coverage or not. I don't know the situation at other national pharmacies. Thankfully, Walmart has a generic drug program that you don't need to join a club to use, the generic list is smaller than the list at Walgreens, but Metformin is on it.
