Cold feet numb toes sometimes

Hey everyone, i have no clue if this is normal, i'm a diabetic, and just lately my feet are always cold, and feel numb alot when i put my feet up, then if i get up and walk around they start to feel normal again, i keep putting my recliner up and down all time, cos while up the toes start to get numb, have not asked to doctor about this yet, my question is can this be something to do with my diabetes, or weather and i'm cold, i'm not sure.

Thanks Carol

Re: Cold feet numb toes sometimes

Could be D related, could be something else going on. I have fibro, when my feet get cold, it's almost impossible to get them warm again

Re: Cold feet numb toes sometimes

That might be related to your blood circulation in your feet, which could be related to diabetes.

Woprht asking your doctor...

Re: Cold feet numb toes sometimes

Hi Carol,

Although it's not listed as a side-effect, metformin causes that in many people.  I had it myself for about the first 6 months that I took it, and even now my feet get colder then they ever used to.

Other posters have reported this as well.

Re: Cold feet numb toes sometimes

I have more problems with my fingers once the weather gets colder.  My fingers get purple and numb esp when I go grocery shopping.  The other day the grocery store was very cold and I bought gloves with me.  I bumped into a friend of mine and I was cold and didn't realize my one finger was purple.  I was telling her about it and she was complaining about how cold the store was.  I looked at my finger and it was completely purple.  She told me to get my gloves on.  My finger didn't feel better until I was almost home from the grocery store.  Yesterday walking in the rain and cooler weather my feet got cold also.  Never had these problems until I got diabetes 4 years ago.  I had lost over 20 pounds but put half of it back on and still have these problems.  I might have Renaulds disease as my Dad had this.  See my Doctor next week and will talk to him about it.  I would suggest you do the same thing.  Good luck to you and have a good weekend.
